Stormheart padded around the cave, too restless to do anything else. You could clearly see, something was on his mind. He seemed confused, lost, hurt, resentful... He was mixed, and he did not know why... A cat approached the tom, concerned for the medicine cat. Stormheart's head snapped up, and he glared at the newcomer, but lightened up with he realized who it was.

The newly made apprentice came into the cave slowly. She had never been outside of the Fogclan camp before, and the furthest she dared stray was the center of the territory. She knew it would be dangerous to go to such an infamous place as the misty swamp by the border, so she had come here. The sun was high in the sky, lighting up the usually cloudy scene. The tabby apprentice had taken care not to come to the cave during the night time, when crickets could literally drive a cat mad.
Stepping now into the cool air of the cave, her yellow eyes seeking the scent she had received at the entrance, a feirce gaze returned her own. Fallenpaw knew it was her former medicine cat, and so felt her fear melt away and her fur was fluffed up now not from the lurkings in the darkness but from the chilly atmosphere. "Stormheart?" Came her strong, yet inquisitive mew. "Are you alright?"
Fallenpaw had shared words with the warrior once before and had taken a liking to his quiet but feirce nature. She felt his prickling pelt brush her own in the near pitch blackness and knew she had reached the huddling cat. "Why sit in the darkness on such a beautiful day?" She widened her eyes to take in what light she could, slowly being able to see at least the outline of the warrior.

Stormheart looked at the apprentice, and then shuddered in resentment. "I don't know why." He hissed. His mind buzzed as he felt as if there was something he had to do before he stepped down from being a medicine cat. He felt totally confused. It was if his memory was erased. He couldn't remember the herbs, he couldn't remember this apprentice's name, he couldn't even remember how to be a warrior. He started pacing again when the apprentice asked him another question.
"Maybe because I like the dark!" He snarled. His backfur was bristling and his eyes showed no mercy of his own anger and fear. But just as quickly, he loosened up and felt guilty for yelling at the poor apprentice. "I'm sorry." He muttered.

Fallenpaw was not offended but instead looked concerned. Her feelings couldn't be hurt easily, so the only thing that had her fuddled was whatever was troubling Stormheart. She shook her head, signalling that his irritation was not a problem. "I've been there." Came her rough mew. Her eyes had adjusted well enough to make out colors a bit now, and she looked at Stormheart with bright eyes that cast around a yellow glare. "Something seems to be bothering you...did you get a message from Dreamclan? I've heard that medicine cats get them, and you just were one a few nights ago, right?" Fallenpaw couldn't think of anything else that could possibly be troubling the tom more than the threat of danger in the forest.

Stormheart looked at the concerned she-cat. She had guessed of part of it, but not all of it. By showing his confusing, he snapped. "Of course medicine cats have dreams sent by DreamClan. And again, a bit redundant to ask a silly question like that?" His eyes flared, and his glare could have been murderous, but beneath all of that, there was a deep saddness.

His rage still went on, but on the inside, he felt tormented by treating a concerned cat like this. He had been a medicine cat. He knew how to be gentle and patient. Don't I...? His thoughts were wiped away as he thought angerly of what was to be expected and why DreamClan sent him a horrific image of something right before he stepped down.

Fallenpaw raised her eyebrows, replying in a level tone, "My question wasn't silly. I asked you if you got a troubling vision from Dreamclan, so how is that redundant? I'm not a mind reader you know, just a beginning apprentice." He seemed to be letting out all of his emotion though, just as she had once done. She knew he'd calm down once his rage capacity lowered a bit. She sat tolerently, her eyes fixed on Stormheart.
Fallenpaw didn't mind being around grumpy cats, she didn't notice much how they differed from her. "Now are you going to tell me what's wrong, or what?" She meowed a bit snappishly, getting a tad impatient. After all, it WAS a nice day out, and the sooner she could get her friend out of the cave, the better.

He glared mutinously at her, but soon, sagged down. He was tired, and wanted to tell someone...anyone. "DreamClan sent me a dream right before I stepped down." He mewed.

Fallenpaw's eyes flashed. She knew she'd been right. Stormheart looked quite angry, so her curiosity grew bigger than she could handle. Shifting her weight onto her forepaws, eagerly leaning forward to peer into the gloom, she meowed gruffly, "Really? Would you tell me about it? I won't tell anyone if that is what you'd like. Maybe I can help, even though I'm only an apprentice." She smirked and nudged him a bit roughly, but it was all in play, "After all," Her tone was now mock serious, "I've got....CONNECTIONS." She was still smirking a bit, hoping to lighten Stormheart's mood a bit, though he was probably no doubt thinking about a very serious matter.

Stormheart had to smile at that. "Oh really," He said, starting to toy with her. "What connections? The connections to bug someone." He teased. But just as quick, he became serious again. "I don't know..." He murmured. "It was dark, but I smelt blood, and felt it drown voices around me. It was flowing. And a haunting melody started. One that even the bravest creature would cringe to. Everything was dying; everything was drowned in blood. And a voice, so soft and gentle, mocked the deaths. And started singing once more." He dare not tell the apprentice that the voice was of the loner, Faerie. He had grown fond of her, until he had found out she was a merciless killer. He had even thought he loved her, but he knows that it could never be. Something is happening. He thought dreadfully. Something big, something that could wipe out clan cats for good. And I must find out. I must find out if Faerie is apart of this.

Something about the way Stormheart told about the dream made her feel like she was experiencing it herself...a tingle ran up her spine, relaying out to the tips of her paws and making her fur stand on end. She could almost hear the voice...could almost hear a song sung in wartime...dark...death...blood...
Fallenpaw snapped back to reality. This was a very frightening prospect, that the clans were in danger. Her eyes narrowed as she thought. "Have you managed to interpret any of it yet? Could you recognize the voice?"

Stormheart hesitated before answering. "I couldn't find the meaning to it yet, but I think I recognized the voice." He murmured, his voice getting quieter by the second. "I just don't know." He mewed, kneeding the grass with his paws, and hissing in frustration. He looked up at Fallenpaw. "What do you think it means?" He asked, his expression troubled.

Fallenpaw thought for a moment, then replied, carefully choosing her words. "Well, I'm no medicine cat, but I think it's a warning of bad things to come. I'd say we better be on our best defense, because if something that brings death is coming to our forest, then all the clans are in danger." The gloom in the cave had lightened a bit, for as the day passed away the sun had fallen lower in the sky, and now shone under the lip of the roof and into the cavern.

Stormheart nodded. "We should tell Oceanstar." He mumbled, watching as the sun lowered itself, dissappearing into an oblivion. He turned to Fallenpaw once more. "What could possibly happen...?" He asked, truly incredulous. He turned toward the dying sun, blinked, and then turned back to the apprentice who has listened to him tell his terrible dream. "What could it possibly mean..." He mumbled, more to himself than to her, frowing with grim concetration.

Evening stars were begininng to appear in the pale gray twilight sky. The beautiful day had seemed to assure good times to come, but Fallenpaw had heard rumors of rogues appearing on clan territory. Was there maybe going to be an attack? Were dogs coming to ravage the clans? The apprentice knew full well that this couldn't have been just a nightmare, this must be a sign from Starclan. Why else would a former medicine cat have recieved it?
Looking out at the fuzzy outlines of the trees in the dimming light, she realized that they'd been out all day. Cats back at camp would begin to get worried about them. She turned and looked at Stormheart, who was deep in thought. "It's getting late. We should head back to camp. We can always contemplate this later, and maybe Oceanstar can help you make some sense of this dream." She stood, stretching her stiff hindlegs behind her.

Stormheart nodded in agreement, his mind already far always as Fallenpaw's drifted toward camp. "First...I am going to take a walk. Don't wait for me, I have to sort some things out." He mewed, gazing thoughtfully at the stars. Then, abruptly, his mood darkened a bit. He turned to face Fallenpaw, his face unreadable, hiding the fact that he was scared, that he was going away on a journey and might not come back; not with what he was going to face. "Good night. Tell everyone where I am." He mewed before rushing off, his long legs quickly taking him into the coming darkenss.
