Sparrow was running, desperate. She carried her son, hoping to put some space between her and the fox. Wolf, her brother, was by her side, although limping from a wound. Her eyes open, and searching, found an old burrow that smelled like badger. But it was faint, and she took the chance. She ran into the burrow, put down her son, and and curled around him, covering his quivering body. Wolf emerged a moment later, standing in front of Sparrow and Moon, ready to protect them. But the fox never came. It was discouraged by the badger scent, and stalked away. As the fox left, a cat soon emerged, startling the little family. She was watching from a tree, her eyes alight in their terror. Her eyes glowed a fairy green glow. "Hello." She meowed, confident, emotionless. "That was quite a slip from that fox." She commented. Her muscles tensed, waiting for one to come and attack her first. 'First move can be fatal.' She thought wickedly. She started pacing, like a trapped animal. She spied a big tom, bigger than most, black as night, glowing amber/yellow eyes. She found a she-cat, small, tense, and glaring. And last, she found a little tom in need of his mother. A kit. She seized up Wolf's size, looking at him, looking for a weak point. She kept on talking. "So who are you?" She asked lightly. "How have you come into the Uncharted Territory?" Sparrow, the she-cat decided to answer. "We were traveling until we bumped into a fox." She replied icily, tensing her own body. She recognized the hunger in the other she-cat's eyes. The hunger for bloodshed. "What is your name?" "Faerie," She replied, her nonchalance hiding her mutiny. "What are yours?" She asked, still nonchalant. "I am Sparrow, that is Wolf-" She pointed at the gigantic tom- "And this is my son, Moon." She looked down. Faerie asked another question. "Is Wolf your mate?" She asked, feinting interest. Sparrow narrowed her eyes. "No." She said, stony. Faerie asked one more question. "Where is your mate, then?" Sparrow hissed slightly. "Dead." She replied, chocking down tears. Without warning, Wolf lunged. He knew Faerie was a danger to the start, but did not realized that she was a murderer with experience. Faerie crouched down, so Wolf would go over her. She lifted her paw, claws skidding his stomach. Not deep enough to be fatal, but she liked to play with her victims. "Not enough." She spat. Sparrow snuck up behind her, ushering her son to hide behind a rock. Sparrow wasn't a murderer, but she was very good with her claws. She unsheathed them, attaching to Faerie. Faerie screamed, loud enough to go on for miles. It wasn't out of terror, it was out of anger. She rolled to dislodge Sparrow. It did the trick. Wolf was lying on his side, watching in horror as Faerie came down onto his sister. Paw raised, and claws unsheathed, she went to rip out Sparrow's throat. But it never happened. Wolf felt something brush past him, but he never saw anything. Sparrow closed her eyes, praying it wouldn't end like this. And Faerie was knocked out, blackness going all around her. Last thing she saw was Lucifer standing over her.

The tom had been out on his usual night route when, of course, had heard and recognized Faerie's screech, and had bounded through the forest at nearly full speed to see what was going on. His gigantic black legs propelled him quickly, and with little effort. He was a huge tom, as big as a fox, and his eyes were as dark as his pelt. When he arrived at the edge of a small clearing, Faerie was perched expertly atop another female, blood-tinted claws shining in the moonlight and poised to strike the throat. With only the quick use of his periperal vision, he saw a big black tom laying helplessly off to the side, and a small trembling ball of fluff hiding behind a rock.
Pelting forward, he threw himself at Faerie and knocked her from her victim with a strong forepaw, pinning her firmly, but not harshly to the ground. He saw her pass out beneath him, and he looked at her with an unreadable face. He regretted having to do such a thing to an ally, furthermore an ally that he had an unusual fondness for, but he hadn't wanted her to kill the cats just yet. Taking his heavy paws off of her shoulders, he stood up straight again, but remained standing protectively over her, in case they decided to attack again for some reason.
"What's going on here?" Came his urgent bass voice, demanding but not quite in a rude way. Guessing that because Wolf was the one that Faerie had dealt with first, he was the one that had started a fight. Turning his jet-colored orbs upon the large tom, he seemed to be asking him. Because the small female had also been fighting, he kept the corner of his eye on her, just in case she decided to lunge or to speak. [/blockquote]

Wolf watched it all play out infront of him. He, at first was grateful toward the huge tom, but now his eyes glinted with mistrust. "We were fighting." Sparrrow indicated hatefully. "She had the look of hunger for bloodshed." Wolf glanced at his sister, warnign her not to say anymore. He looked up at the tom who was slightly bigger than he. "I attacked first." The light in his eys flickered, as if concentrating on something else. Faerie woke up. She was slightly dazed, but her focus was clear. She looked around her, and then up at Lucifer. "Hello." She meowed, no emotion showing. "I'm a bit surprised you showed up." But something in her eyes was telling him that she wasn't. She turned to Sparrow and hissed, "You're lucky he decided to save you." Moon started whimpering. "Mama, mama." He shipsered fearfully. Sparrow took one glance at Lucifer, and then hurried to her kit. She wrapped herself around him, his moon-colored fur becoming red with her blood. Wolf got up slowly, as if any sudden movements would bring on an attack. He felt Faerie's stare on him, but he dare not look at her. He slowly inched his way to his sister and nephew. "Are you alright?" He murmured. She nodded, something new flaming in her eyes. Faerie looked at Wolf. "First move can be fatal." She whispered, her voice heavy with vengeance. She turned to Lucifer again. "Please let me up. If you want them, I won't attack them." To her, the little family was just blood. Lucifer, on the other hand, she trusted. And that was something extremely hard to gain.

Lucifer nodded to Faerie, knowing her word was good, for him at least. He stepped a half a pace away, letting her up. Then he turned back to the shaken and bleeding cats before him. Standing at least a head above even the big tom, he was able to look down his muzzle at them curiously. "Doesn't any rogue lust for the blood of an attacker? I hope you've learned that you never attack a dangerous opponent first, you wait for them to move first."
His eyes flashed with an unreadable expression when he saw the kit. No doubt dark thoughts swirled through his mind at the pitiful sight of the crying infant, but he said nothing aloud, merely looking at it stonily. "So what brings you three to this territory? Surely you weren't here looking for such a death match." Lucifer knew for a fact that if he hadn't showed up, Faerie would have killed all three cats without hesitation, just for trying to threaten her in her own element. He glanced at her, his eyes again conveying nothing but holding an intrigued spark. [/blockquote]

Faerie snarled slightly at the three. "What are you? A family of a mother, father, and son?" Sparrow narrowed her eyes dangerously, being brought back to this scene. "Moon is my son, and Wolf is my brother." She mewed icily. Wolf, who looked thoughtful turned to Lucifer. "My sister has been getting a certain...feeling. It's like she and our long, lost-" He turned to look at Faerie meaningfully. Faerie bared her teeth. "Sister." He finished. Sparrow turned to glare at her brother. Faerie hissed, "Who do you think is your sister?" Sparrow blinked, all emotion gone from her face. "You." She glared with mutiny. Faerie's expression lost all emotion at that one word. She felt that certain tug when she had found Sparrow, but thought nothing of it. "I have no family," She replied, remorse. Her eyes shadowed, going back moons. "They have killed me, so I have abandoned them." Wolf pricked his ears. "Do you remember me?" He asked. He always knew who this she-cat was, be he dare not hope. His eyes reflected pity on his poor sister. Faerie hissed, her eyes cold flints of emerald. "No. I have no family. I never had. I grew up alone. Just leave." She looked down, her voice thick of emotion. She sat down and bowed her head, feeling a sorrow she rarely feels.

Lucifer's eyes flashed with the first bit of emotion that they had held in a long while: anger. Faerie was not usually the kind to show how she felt, and that must mean that these cats were really bothering her. Lucifer wasn't too happy about this. He wanted to press his fur against hers to comfort her, but thought better of it. Instead he simply placed his tail reassuringly on her shoulder, to let her know that with only a few words he'd help her chase them away. "Are you sure you had no family? They seem pretty convinced..." He whispered in her ear so only she could hear. [/blockquote]

Sparrow narrowed her eyes in suspicion. Wolf gently layed his tail on her shoulder, warning her. She curled protectively around her son.
Faerie glanced at Lucifer before bowing her head down. "I'll tell you later; in private." She whispered back, her eyes gazing back into his, some emotion not easily read. She looked at the small family, and her eyes hardened again. "Might as well bring these three back; we don't have many queens." Her line sounded almost wistful to Sparrow's ears. 'She's too cruel to love,' She thought bitterly.

Lucifer nodded, knowing that another young family in the gang couldn't hurt them. And these three looked strong enough to aid them quite a bit in hunting, although he knew that they wouldn't have lasted a moment against Faerie. "Would you three want a place to stay for the night? It's not much, but I can gaurantee that another cat as dangerous as Faerie here would find you out alone in the forest, and would take as much pity on you as she would..."
He paused and added, "In other words, it might be a bit cold and wet, but you'd be a lot safer." His jet black eyes glinted in the beams of light falling from above, and his equally dark pelt was lined with silver in the watery moonlight. He looked a frightening figure, but seemed to fit in somehow. Like a living shadow; a creature risen from hell. [/blockquote]

Wolf reguarded Lucifer calmly, determined not to be frightened by this creature of hell. "We'll take what you have to offer." He mewed, no emotion showing. He was hurt by his sister's comments, but knew she had suffered much. Sparrow narrowed her eyes, but nodded; she wanted her son to be safe. 'I know I would've died if it weren't for him.' Moon looked at the grown-ups, lost in their conversation. He didn't understand much of it, but he knew he was safe at the time. Even he knew when he might die.
Faerie glanced back at the family, and then swiftly left. "Take care of them," She whispered, never using any manner. "I need to hunt before I talk to them again." She left without another word, her gait rigid as she loped away, determined to ask them questions.

Lucifer's black eyes watched her leave, admiration stirring in him at the haughty way she walked, as if she had lost her prey but would easily turn and find new ones. He swung his massive head around to face the others. Slowly, he acknowledged they had spoken with a nodding of his cranium. "Very well. If you follow me, I will lead you back to my pack. They are called The Fallen, for most cats that join us have had terrible pasts. But most, surprisingly, are trying to fix them. I hope you find such luck with us." Glancing at Moon, he had a feeling that he'd evolve into a powerful cat as he grew. He saw that he was quietly observing them and attempting to take their words in, even though he couldn't quite process them. Lucifer turned, his eyes searching the undergrowth as if he could see Faerie lurking within, as he trotted back towards the hideout of The Fallen. [/blockquote]

Faerie reached the deepest shadows before taking off. 'This is so confusing,' She thought, anger toward her vulnerability. 'It wasn't his fault, and he is kin, no they are kin, but I would kill them. Sparrow hates me; I tried to kill them all. Moon is but a child. Wolf has a darkness within him he doesn't even understand. And Moon is greatly knowledged for his age. Both toms could become the most feared or most heroic. Sparrow is just a she-cat; she has nothing special except a special connection with me. She has no darkness,' Faerie's thoughts turned bitter. 'She could live and go on normally. Nothing could hurt her soul.' Faerie pushed herself harder, her usually silent movement was loud, thumping the ground, trying to gather greater speed. Wolf watched his sister leave before acknowledging Lucifer. "We hope to find the luck we need," He mewed solemnly. Sparrow got up, stiff from being clenched together for so long. She nosed up her son, helping him get up. Her eyes blazed with anger. "How could you let such a monster live near you," She spat in Lucifer's face. "She would've killed us, no doubt. And here you are, as if your her master. It doesn't make sense, and I won't try to make it make sense, but this is foolish. My son will be in great danger from being exposed to her; he'll-" She was caught off as Moon walked around to face his mother. "She is struggling, Mother. You know that more than any of us; try and help her instead of judging her." Wolf looked at his nephew with a new interest. Moon rarely spoke, and when he did, it was something beyond his years.

The pure midnight tom stopped in his tracks and turned to face the three cats again, tail lashing back and forth. Lucifer's already dark eyes were suddenly clouded over with a deeper blackness that billowed across them slowly, making them look like two dark pools of water on a starless night. His upper lip twitched a bit and then pulled back to reveal curved fangs as Sparrow came dangerously close to him. It looked, for a moment, like he was going to lose it and slash out at her face. But Lucifer, of course, was more controlled than that. His ears flipped back and were pinned flat against his head as he said in a low growl, "Faerie is not a monster, and I am certainly not her master. Your son speaks wise words, and I believe you would do well to heed them." ingrate.fool.ignorant litte she-cat. Erupted the added words inside his head.
Narrowing his eyes, he whirled around and headed into the forest at a frightening pace. Lucifer looked, in fact, like a shadow sweeping across the ground instead of a cat flowing swiftly across it on powerful limbs. He didn't even glance behind him once to see if they were following as he dissapeared into the darkness spread out among the trees. If they were too slow, they could follow his cold scent trail to the hideout, and that was that. In the mood he was now in, he wasn't exactly up for playing the obliging tour guide. Sparrow shook the shock and hissed at Lucifer, but in the back of her mind, she felt fear; something she would rarely feel. 'Be careful,' She silently warned herself. 'Don't test him like that again.' Moon watched the shadow leave, feeling frightened, all his wisdom gone from the depths of his eyes. Wolf sighed. "Come on, might as well go." At a much slower pace, he started walking, following Lucifer's scent. 'It'd help if Moon were old enough to run faster.' Wolf thought with a darkness even he could not comprehend. Sparrow sighed as well, picked up Moon by the scruff, half holding, half dragging, followed her brother.
