A snow white figure could be seen clearly against the dark, dreary surroundings. Every time the creature took a step, a soft squelching noise was heard coming from the saturated ground. Sparkgaze stopped for a second, looking down at his paws in frustration. Although he should be happy that his territory was not lacking water like most of the others, he just wished that it was easier to search for prey. The tiny ears of mice and rabbits would detect the sloshing sound of a cat walking through the swamp long before the cat had a chance to catch it.
Sparkgaze looked up, his bright blue eyes looking around at the dense undergrowth. He could have sworn he had scented another cat. But maybe he was mistaken. Not wanting to be caught off guard in the fringes of the swamp, he walked over to solid ground. He sat down and looked down at his paws in disgust. He always regretted walking at the edge of the swamp; it took forever for the mud color to fade out of his white fur.
A stray wind blew past, ruffling the tom's fur and disturbing the undergrowth. The leaves began to rustle for a few seconds before settling down again. But the wind also carried something else. The scent of another cat; Sparkgaze hadn't been mistaken before. He looked up, waiting for the cat to come closer. He knew she would, for he recognized her scent.

OoC: Sorry Ember, didn't notice this until now
Oceanstar suddenly streaked out of the undergrowth, chasing a rabbit. Of course Sparkgaze had been right about her being there, she had had no intentions of hiding, mainly because she'd given chase to a rabbit. Oceanstar pulled ahead of the rabbit and cut it off, leaping on it before it could turn and killing it off with a swift bite to the neck. "Ugh, I always hated how sticky this stuff was" The white femme mewed in disgust. She, too, had white fur and getting it muddy and wet was frustrating. Oceanstar had ran along the edges of the swamp whilst pursuing the rabbit, and now padded onto the dry ground, getting a distance away from Sparkgaze before shaking the mud from her paws as not to make it worse on him. Setting the rabbit down, Oceanstar turned to her warrior "Hello Sparkgaze, hunting along the Swamps edge as well? Frustrating when you have light colored fur isn't it?"

OOC: its ok XD
BIC: Sparkgaze chuckled in amusement as he nodded his head. "Yes, it is pretty frustrating." He murmured. "It stains my fur for weeks." As he said this, he glanced down at his dirty paws, scrunching his nose in disgust. "Oh well." He added, looking back up at Oceanstar. "That was a good catch by the way. I've been out for a while and I haven't been able to find anything. It seems as if the drought is beginning to affect our prey." His blue eyes looked troubled for a second as he thought about this, but then the tom shook his head, trying to force himself to think about something else. "But enough talk about the drought." He murmured. "How have you been doing lately?"

"Well, if it makes you feel better about the hunting thing, this is the first thing I've caught all day" Oceanstar mewed, prodding the rabbit with a mud encrusted paw. She shook her head to Sparkgaze's drought comment "It may be, but with the swamp and all, I think we'll do fine, I'm sure the prey is just hiding" She refused to believe they too were being effected by the drought.

"Yes, that could be true." Sparkgaze meowed. "Because the mud around the swamp is still moist, hence our muddy paws." He chucked, looking down at his messy paws. He unsheathed his sharp claws, breaking through some of the thick mud. He stood up, shaking, causing a few stray hairs to float toward the ground. He blinked, his blue eyes hidden for a split second before he opened his eyes again to look at the femme in front of him. "Oceanstar," He murmured. "I don't really know how to say this." The tom sighed, not used to pouring his heart out to other cats. "Oceanstar, I think I'm in love with you." [/blockquote]

At Sparkgaze's last words, Oceanstar felt like her heart had skipped a beat. Since a kit, she had never loved anyone, except her brother but in a family love way. Oceanstar forced down the fur that was beginning to rise on the back of her neck from the sudden comment, looking down at the ground, she sheathed and unsheathed her claws, digging them deep into the dirt, not sure how to respond
