Larkwing jumped up. She ma be small, but was graceful. She jumped up onto one of the highest branches. On her shoulder, her, her wing mark glowed and her creamy fur had an beautiful glow to it as the sun rose. She was doing great in IceClan. She was happy, and proud. She was loyal and had many friends. But she couldn't help missing her brothers. I wonder where they are now... She wondered.
She heard a cat coming toward her. She swiveled her ears to get a better sound. She heard quiet footsteps on the roots. She smiled to herself. It was one of her closest friends, Settingsoul.
When she had first joined this clan, Settingsoul gave confort. She seemed spiritual and had a great deal of many secrets. SOme good and some bad. She seemed to know what was happening within the clan even though no one else knew. She was another slim cat, and she was small, like she was.
"Hello Settingsoul." Larkwing mewed, not turning.
Settingsoul taught her many things in secret. For one, she taught Larkwing to hear every movement. She heard Settingsoul smile.
"You've been practicing." She commented. Settingsoul jumped up beside her friend. "What is wrong dear? You seem so distant now. When you came to your lesson yesterday, I could hardly make you do anything."
Settingsoul was very young, but her wisdom shone in her eyes.
Larkwing shook her head. "I lost my brothers. I was so used to them being with me. Now, I miss them incredibly."
Settingsoul scooted closer to her friend.
"You sorrow is natural. But you must stop looking into the past and look into the present and look forward for the future. It was your choice. Now live with it." She licked Larkwing's ear with a brisk but caring lick.
"Come on," Said Settingsoul. "We might as well go hunt."
Larkwing noded in agreement.
Larkwing and Settingsoul were hunting along the border when a familiar scent hit Larkwing. She looked around, scenting hesitantly. Her grassy green eyes scanned the bushes in RageClan territroy. FInally, she found what she was looking for. "Rainpaw!" She called.
A head poked through some undergrowth. Soon a whole cat came out. Rainpaw was huge for his age. He could pass for a warrior. His eyes glazed with happiness when he saw Larkwing. "Larkpaw!" He called.
Larking purred in amusement. "Larkwing now." She commented.
Rainpaw looked at her in awe. "You'rew kidding me! You're a warrior already!" He started purring, and licked her ear. "I missed you. It's been forever."
Larkwing nodded. She took a step back, frowning.
"What?" Asked Rainpaw?
"You smell of RageClan..." She murmured.
He nodded. "I joined a while ago. And you smell like IceClan. I'm guessing that you joined this clan."
Larkwing nodded. She looked at her brother, her eyes flaring hope. "Have you seen Brackenpaw?"
Rainpaw shook his head, regretting his fight with his brother. "We fought and went our seperate ways." He admitted.
Larkwing nodded.
Settingsoul came around some bushes. "And who might you be talking to?" She asked, curious.
Rainpaw hissed, but Larkwing calmed him down. "It's alright. She's a friend."
She turned to her clanmate. "This is Rainpaw, my brother."
Settingsoul looked to Rainpaw to Larkwing in a swift movement. "Let's go." She said, monotoned.
"What? Why?" Larkwing protested.
"Because. You can't have your loyalties divided. Not when you just became a warrior. Come on. Now!" She commanded sharply.
Larkwing shook her head. 'No! I want to talk to Rainpaw."
Rainpaw stepped back. "She's right," He mewed gently. "I don't want you to be doubted. We'll talk during Gatherings and stuff. I don't want to lose you again."
Larkwing looked at him. "But I've changed. I'm not who I used to be. Please stay." She pleaded.
Rainpaw shook his head. "It's time to let go of the past." He stepped away and then trotted off.
Larkwing rounded on Settingsoul. She was very irate, and her eyes were slashed with fury. "See what you did!" She yelled. "Now I can't talk to Rainpaw because of you!"
"Larkwing-"
"No! Just leave me alone!"
Larking ran. She was swift and soon dissappeared from view. She stopped, as she collided with a black she-cat. Settingsoul was right behind her. When she saw the black cat, she gasped. "Larkwing...back away." She mewed, slowly.
Settingsoul could feel the hatred radiating from this cat. She could also smell blood. She heard the she-cat calling out for help, and could see such fear pulsing through her veins.
Larkwing could feel it too. She slowly backed away. The she-cat turned and ran. When she dissappeared, a badger soon came out. Behind that badger, three cubs were behind her. And her cubs were old enough to kill. "Help!" Cried Larkwing.
She jumped high into the air as the mother lunged for her. But she jumped straight for her cubs.
They snapped viciously. She became so near she could feel their breath on her.
Settingsoul jumped and moved her, leaving the cubs to tear her to shreds. Settingsoul fough them, but she was growing weaker. All three kept tearing at her flesh.
Sudenly, two toms came from the RageClan border. One was Shadowblaze and the other was Rainpaw. They both attacked the mother.
She gave up a good fight, but by the time Shadowblaze and Rainpaw had grown weary and bloody, the mother turned and ran. But her cubs stayed. Larkwing was ontop of one. She was also weary and desperate. Rainpaw leapted to his sister's side while Shadowblaze rescued Settingsoul.
You could not even see her pelt anymore. She was bleeding everywhere. The only thing that wasn't bloody was her face. But she did have a deep cut in her ear. "Help." She mouthed.
Larkwing cried once more. "HELP US!"
OOC: I'm not going to have Settingsoul die. She is just in a very bad shape. She will have scars all along her body but when her fur grows back, she will look normal, except her ear.
